High Desert Ride

Postby Mossy-Back » July 9th, 2017, 3:23 pm

Here's some footage of my first time riding in the desert (only rode in the woods of Western Oregon before this). It was east of Bend in the East Fort Rock trail network.

So what do you think of the desert versus the forest?

Anything surprising or different than expected?

After riding the woods in all kinds of weather conditions the technical rock sections in the desert were a piece of cake. Riding big whoops in the desert tires you out. Riding fast in the sand and soft deep dirt feels weird at first, but you just stay loose and keep the front end light and it tracks better.

You have to be a lot more mindful of body position when cornering in the desert. If you are sitting too far back the front end washes out quick.

I was tired and sore, but in different places than woods riding.
