Got a new one : -)

Postby Looseparts » July 13th, 2015, 4:37 pm

The 1998 955 Triumph Daytona was the best bike ever, but only ran about half the time - it's old, my fault, whatever, so... I went to Latus Triumph and got me a new Street Triple R - A 2014 R model for a bit less than a 2015 standard issue - Had 18 miles, 2 yr full warranty (extended to 6 years) and some freebies - had it about 3 weeks - needs a pipe as it sounds like a weed eater and the mirrors were impossible (spent time wondering if there was 'anyone behind me?' - but even at break-in levels it's an astonishing little rocket - couldn't be happier.

Wunderlich and Touratech both make mirror riser/spacers to move the mirrors up and out so that you can see more than your armpits.

Just curious: How in hell can it be the best bike EVER if it only ran HALFthe time?

BTW, congrats on the new ride. Sounds awesome.

Oh. When she was good... she was REALLY good. And. The only good place to move those ugly-ass mirrors is completely off the bike - on with the trusty bar-ends I've been using on the last 3 bikes.

Next... the bug-eye dual headlights (I know, I know... iconic to Triumph and it's sacrilege to put a single in their place but) I already bought a unit from a Yamaha MT-03 - suits me better.

Next after that - a pipe. Currently it sounds like a weed eater. I like motorcycles.

Then next after that... something about that subframe - sticks up way to high and at my height and my age the leg-over will eventually become too much. Other than that. I pretty much like it ; -)

My new 1967 Triumph Trophy came with a 90 day warranty which was void if you ran straight pipes. Interesting: the horsepower figures in the owners manual were taken with bike running Straight Pipes!

Times done changed a bit-------Nice Bike

Latus Triumph has been very very good to me - and they support racing which is super important to me - Make sure your friend knows that was a big factor in my decision to buy from them even though I could have spent less on a FZ-09 elsewhere. I appreciate that Latus supports Dirt and Circuit racing at such a high level.
