2001 Ducati M900sie

Postby TelemarkSean » January 11th, 2016, 12:44 pm

I'm glad Dustpan sold his 900ss because I was going to feel bad buying basically exactly the same bike from someone else.

This is the first of the fuel-injected monsters. That's kind of nice since it's simple enough for me to work on but "new" enough to have reliable fuel injection.

It's in really good shape and doesn't need work done. (Yeah, I bought a bike that doesn't need a million things fixed). Well, the clutch plates are at their limits of wear but replacing the clutch barely counts at "work" on this bike. The bike seems to be geared really high and I wonder if that's why the clutch is so worn.

Because it is required that all of my bikes have some weird quirk: this one will not run at all with the side down. So it's not possible to warm the bike up while on the sidestand. Ducati did this deliberately and I will be modifying it so that the sidestand cutoff switch works in a sensible way.

It is completely stock which is kind of surprising for a Monster. I bet like 70% of these have had the fender removed and the tail chopped. I think I'll keep it stock although I might add a steering damper.

This is supposed to be my daily, reliable, around town "this bike is guaranteed to start and stuff" bike. We'll see. :) Hopefully you won't see it in the projects section.

Great looking bike. I've always liked the Monsters.

Congrats! Nice looking bike. Wish I had been more comfortable on mine, or I would not have gotten rid of it. Hope it works for you!

BTW, I was right: The first person to look at mine bought it.....
